Day 48, Reasons to be cheerful pt 1
And... yeah. So, this being a Thanksgiving blog, expect a lot of posts about food, counting blessings, a dash of minimalism here and there, and a few diatribes. This is one of the "counting blessings" posts. There's a lot of crap in the world right now. For most of it, there are no easy solutions, whether it's climate change, Brexit, or whatever is going to be wrong with the Iggles between now and the playoffs.
That being said-
Here are some reasons to be cheerful:
We've found an enzyme that will eat plastic.
There are machines that can remove carbon from the atmosphere. It's expensive and we'll still need to figure out what to do with it, but it can be done.
And if you're feeling bad about what you can do (besides pressuring your Congressman about policy change)- plant a tree. Even better- plant an apple tree!
There's been a lot in the news about declining bird populations in the U.S. due to various factors. That's bad, but it's good that people are noticing. We can't fix problems if we don't know about them first.

As bad as things look sometimes, I believe that in lots of small ways things are getting better. Not in some Pollyanna-ish view of that everything is always for the best, but it's easy to get so caught up in the negative that you can't even see the good around you. So, I hope whoever is reading this, that you have at the very least good people around you, and you're enjoying this October with them, and perhaps some apple pie as well.
